Anxi Roasted Iron Goddess of Mercy Tea (Tieguanyin) | 安溪鐵觀音

Also known as Iron Goddess of Mercy, Tieguanyin is an oolong tea harvested from the Fujian Province and was once reserved for the emperor. Roasting techniques for making Tieguanyin vary, which results in a wide range of nuances of flavor, even within the same tea. This Our Anxi Roasted Tieguanyin is a full-bodied oolong tea that uses old-school style to tease out the traditional flavors of Tieguanyin. Its amber hue unfolds into a warm toasted aroma with rich notes of caramel and roasted chestnuts. The complex, slightly tart, richly perfumed tea is a perfect match for the sweet and hearty traditional baked mooncake.

Brewing Guide:

Measure 1 teaspoon of tea to a medium-sized gaiwan or clay pot. Bring the water to a boil and allow it cool for 10 minutes (90-95℃). Pour enough water to submerge tea leaves and immediately pour out this first brew.
Refill gaiwan or clay pot to the top and steep for 10-15 seconds or until desired concentration before serving the tea. Rebrew as needed.
